Let's talk about brakes

Problem:
-
Premature wear
-
Uneven wear
-
Poor performance
-
Excessive corrosion buildup that causes failure
-
Brake pulsations
-
Seized components
-
Safety issues
We all hate that dreaded brake squeal, pulsation in the pedal, or the sound of metal on metal! But what’s the root of all these issues? Some of it is just plain old service life, but most of the time it’s premature, and the result of budget parts and poor workmanship! Lets face it, brakes are one of the most important safety items on your vehicle. What we have consistently seen year after year is that the components of the braking system that are not replaced during a normal brake job are not cleaned and lubricated properly and there is poor parts selection.
Solution:
-
Proper removal of all corrosion and grime
-
Proper rust protection
-
Proper lubricant and rust inhibitor application
-
Using premium products
-
Proper break in procedure
-
Trained technicians following our proprietary process
-
Using parts with a comprehensive warranty
-
Having a package that we can stand behind
Lets get to the nuts and bolts of it! When we’re referring to cleaning we are not talking about a simple spray down with brake clean and your old five dollar wire brush. What we’re doing starts with a complete disassembly of the caliper, pad holder and slider pins in the most basic situation. The pad holder and slider pins are now put into our vapour honing machine where they are meticulously blasted with an abrasive slurry. This ensures that we can gently remove all of the dirt and corrosion from the critical surfaces. These parts end up looking like an original part when finished. The next step involves a solvent cleaning to remove any oils from the surface and a drying process to ensure the surface is prepped for paint. The final step is to put these parts into our spray both and paint thoroughly to ensure the bare metal is not exposed to air or water, this keeps them rust free for the entire life expectancy of the pads and rotors. The caliper that remains on the vehicle is completely cleaned/rejuvenated with a series of solvent washes, sanding wheels and arbours to remove excess corrosion and ensure that the piston and caliper ears can push directly square on the pad without causing uneven pressure, which can decrease the lifespan of the pads and rotors. The caliper is then painted. All other essential surfaces are cleaned with the same precision. Assembly includes using a high temperature lubricant to all of the areas that require movement or corrosion protection. The last key to our recipe is using premium parts that have been stress tested over many years to find a combination that lasts for your particular vehicle. Remember all vehicles are different and require different combinations. At the core we’re talking about using premium coated rotos that have been proven to be machined properly, and premium pads that give superior stopping power and quiet operation.
Changes you’re going to experience:
-
Extended brake life
-
Even and uniform brake wear
-
Improved brake performance
-
Less corrosion buildup
-
Improved visual appearance
-
Life span of the caliper is increased
-
More money saved over the life of the vehicle
-
Improved safety
-
Improved fuel economy
What our customers notice is drastically increased service intervals, and when it is time to replace parts, they have worn properly all the way to the end of life. What’s not commonly known is that a lot of the premium parts that we use actually have a completely different makeup. A perfect example of this is high carbon rotors. Many of the car manufacturers are utilizing this for their superior corrosion resistance. Also many of the premium parts have much better warranty. The final aspect you will notice is the look! No more gigantic rusty calipers and rotors behind your wheel, It does not matter what vehicle you drive, from a Honda civic to a Mercedes, your vehicle will have a fully painted caliper.
